Yes, the rumor’s true. Greg Palast is facing a criminal complaint from the Department of Homeland Security stemming from his filming the Hurricane Katrina investigation for Link TV and Democracy Now. The film’s producer, Matt Pascarella, is also facing the legal wrath of Big Brother.

It appears the complaint is about filming a sensitive national security site owned by Exxon petroleum. It seems that photographing major Bush donors is now a federal offense. (more…)

In now entirely predictable fashion, lefty gatekeeper Alexander Cockburn has issued a hit piece against nine eleven “conspiracy nuts,” in particular David Ray Griffin, described as “one of their high priests.”

According to Cockburn, writing for the subscription-based Nation web site—kudos to the anarchists at Infoshop who filched and reposted it—Griffin’s book, the New Pearl Harbor, is rife with “fundamental idiocy,” especially in regard to the ability of the government to pull off a terrorist attack.

Moreover, Cockburn is onboard with Ward Churchill, who tells us Osama and crew, tucked away in a cave situated in one of the most remote and backwater countries on the planet, were indeed behind the attacks and to say otherwise makes one an honorary member of the Ku Klux Klan. (more…)

Al Qaeda Doesn’t Exist

September 8th, 2006

There’s no such thing as al Qaeda, or al Qaida, or however you want to spell it. It’s a fraud perpetrated on the American people by our own government to scare us into submission. This is a clip from the excellent three-part BBC documentary The Power of Nightmares.

Phony left-right backbiting deliberately overshadows 9/11 truth

The lapdog mainstream media and the left-gatekeeper establishment wannabees have so far succeeded in overshadowing the 9/11 truth movement nearing the fifth anniversary of the attacks, by getting all hot and bothered about a nothing documentary that whitewashes both the Bush and Clinton administration’s contribution to facilitating the destruction of the trade towers.

The Path to 9/11, a two part ABC documentary set to air on Sunday and Monday night, gives Clinton a pass for being too interested in his sex scandal to recognize the threat of Al-Qaeda - when in reality Bill Clinton deliberately refused to grab Bin Laden when he had the chance on numerous occasions. Mindless debates about Monica Lewinsky serve only to distract attention from the truth that both Bush and Clinton premeditatively protected terrorist networks before 9/11.

No surprises then that the idiot left gatekeepers have bought this GOP distraction talking point hook, line and sinker - taking the bait to wage endless back and forth diatribes about how angelic Bill Clinton was. (more…)

The Torturer’s Apprentice

September 8th, 2006

As the fifth anniversary of 9/11 approaches and with the midterm elections just two months away, the president’s speechwriters succeeded in making a silk purse out of the sow’s ear of torture. The artful offensive will succeed if –- but only if –- the mainstream media is as cowed, and the American people as dumb, as the president thinks they are. Arguably a war criminal under international law and a capital-crime felon under U.S. criminal law, Bush’s legal jeopardy is even clearer than when he went AWOL during the Vietnam War. And this time, his father will not be able to fix it.

Bush in jeopardy? Yes. The issue is torture, which George W. Bush authorized in a Feb. 7, 2002, memorandum in contravention both of the Geneva Accords and 18 U.S. Code 2441 – the War Crimes Act that incorporates the Geneva provisions into the federal criminal code which was approved by a Republican-led Congress in 1996. Heeding the advice of Vice President Dick Cheney’s counsel, David Addington, then-White House counsel Alberto Gonzales and Assistant Attorney General Jay Bybee, the president officially opened the door to torture in that memorandum. His remarks yesterday reflect the determination of Cheney and Bush to keep that door open and accuse those who would close it of being “soft on terrorists.” (more…)

It’s good to see at long last that the mainstream media (MSM) are beginning to publish articles about the so-called ‘conspiracy theories’ that surround the events of 9/11 – even if they are in an attempt to debunk them. It means that if the MSM is going to so much trouble to debunk them then the truth about what really happened that fateful day is finally beginning to emerge into the public domain and that the western governments who have an interest in maintaining the façade of the ‘official version’ of events are becoming worried that their story is coming apart at the seams. Mr. Bush is a wounded, deeply unpopular president, fighting a war that Americans feel has made them less safe and cost hundreds of billions of dollars and the lives of almost 3000 soldiers. The Republican-controlled Congress, virtually every poll says, is on the nose with a large majority — more than 70 per cent — who are angry and disappointed with the way their politicians are governing. And on every main issue, from the war in Iraq to the state of the economy, rising petrol prices and growing concern about illegal immigration, Americans reckon their politicians are failing them. From WRH:

Fear is all Bush has left. And if any ‘attack’ were to happen in the US in the coming days, it would simply telegraph to American and the world that Bush and his cronies are utterly, contemptuously impotent to counter any terrorism directed against the US, even after all of their assaults on our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

U.S. Justice Department lawyers argued last week that allowing the suit to go forward would reveal state secrets and damage national security. (more…)
