Mr. Bush is a wounded, deeply unpopular president, fighting a war that Americans feel has made them less safe and cost hundreds of billions of dollars and the lives of almost 3000 soldiers. Fear is all Bush has left. And if any ‘attack’ were to happen in the US in the coming days, it would simply telegraph to American and the world that Bush and his cronies are utterly, contemptuously impotent to counter any terrorism directed against the US, even after all of their assaults on our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
