WASHINGTON - Attorneys for 25 men being held in Afghanistan launched a pre-emptive strike Monday against President Bush’s plan to prosecute and interrogate terror suspects.

Court documents filed Monday demand that the men be released or charged and allowed to meet with attorneys. Such a filing, known as a habeas corpus petition, is prohibited under the legislation approved by Congress last week. (more…)

Fox News Previously Had Copy Of Foley Emails But Didn’t Run It…

(AP) — … Meanwhile, Florida newspapers — who were leaked copies of the e-mail with the Louisiana boy last year — defended their decision not to run stories. Both The St. Petersburg Times and The Miami Herald were given copies of the e-mail, as were other news organizations, including Fox News.

“Our decision at the time was … that because the language was not sexually explicit and was subject to interpretation, from innocuous to ’sick,’ as the page characterized it, to be cautious,” said Tom Fiedler, executive editor of the Herald. “Given the potentially devastating impact that a false suggestion of pedophilia could have on anyone, not to mention a congressman known to be gay, and lacking any corroborating information, we chose not to do a story.”

So the mainstream media admits that they protected a pedophile in Congress for a year. Imagine all the other sex scandals that the maintream media has just decided to pass on covering and you can begin to understand how a problem like this can become so widespread. (more…)

LONDON: Video footage of 9/11 ringleader Mohammed Atta reading a “martyrdom” will about 20 months before the attacks on the US may never have been intended to be released in that form.

And an expert on Islamic extremism predicted the footage was so out of character for al-Qa’ida it could have been taken by a security agency.
